Graduate Open Houses and Visiting the School

Prospective graduate students in all disciplines are invited to join us, see the school and meet faculty and students.

Visitors and prospective graduate and undergraduate students are also welcome at the school anytime. See Visiting the School for details on the best times and how to arrange a visit.

Admissions Requirements

Candidates for all undergraduate degrees in the School of Architecture must apply to the University of Virginia Undergraduate Admissions Office+. Please see their information for undergraduate application requirements.

Candidates for a degree in one of the four graduate curricula offered in the School of Architecture must hold an approved baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university.

Applicants whose previous coursework does not meet all of the course requirements as listed under the "admission" paragraph for any of the described degree programs must complete the necessary prerequisite coursework prior to enrollment in the respective graduate programs, or receive special permission not to take the courses from the Chair.

Graduate degree credit is only given for graduate level courses. Courses taken below the 500-level must be taken on a pass/fail basis.

Graduate Ph.D. Program

Please note that admissions for the Graduate (Ph.D.) Program in the History of Art and Architecture are handled by the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences+, not the School of Architecture.
