    Site Design

A web site that showcases an image collection is a kind of gallery, and can be designed to provide analogous viewing modes.

    • A browse mode, equivalent to standing in the middle of the room and browsing the images at a distance.
    • A view mode, equivalent to walking to an image and viewing it close up.
    • A review mode, equivalent to walking along the wall, seeing each clos-up image in succession.

Viewing an 2-inch thumbnail on screen is equivalent to viewing a 10-inch image at a distance of 10 feet.

    Examples

    • A one-room gallery with four images
    • An open light table.
    • A flip book.
