    Introduction

The following is a brief synopsis of an initial test of applying the Photomodeler Pro 3.0 photogrammetry software to photographs collected in Pompeii during the summer of 1997.

    Source photographs

The following four photographs were used to create a model of one of the pedestals and end walls.

    Photo-mapped VRML Models

The following photographs show screen dumps from a VRML browser showing a photo-mapped model.

The following photograph shows the model without photo mapping. The vertex locations are not very accurate because of experimentation with facilities to adjust vertex locations.

    Determining Camera Stations

The following is a screen dump of the Photomodeler program, showing the camera stations calculated relative to the object.

    Preliminary Conclusions

This web page was finished less than 24 hours after I opened the box for the software, with only a few hours work in creating the models. The software is easy to use, and the results are very promising.
