Program Description

Denmark’s International Study Program (DIS) was founded in 1959. It offers coursework in Architecture/Design, Arts and Humanities, Social Sciences, Environmental Studies, International Business, and Engineering. Dates of the program correspond with UVA’s fall semester.

All classes are taught in English by Danish Faculty. Typically, architecture students enroll in the following courses:

  • Architectural Design Studio (required)
  • Architecture and Planning (required)
  • Visual Journal or (elective)
  • Urban Design Journal (elective)

Students interested in studying in Copenhagen should consult with their academic advisor and with Mr. Craig Barton.

Cost

The comprehensive tuition fee is approximately $13,050, which includes a three-day Denmark Study Tour and a one-week tour to Berlin. In addition, accommodations are either in a dormitory, which costs $4,085, or with a Danish family, which totals $4,085. Personal expenses are estimated at $250-$300 per month. Airfare excursion rate on SAS via New York is approximately $800. A limited number of scholarships for partial tuition costs will be available for DIS.
